How does Pollution Impact our Environment?

Overview
During this one to two week unit, students explore the effects of pollution on our environment and conduct research using a variety of print and electronic sources. In addition to learning about pollution, students address English Language Arts standards by taking notes on print and digital sources and collaborating with peers. At the end of the unit, students share their knowledge through a presentation in the format of their choice, such as a PowerPoint, video, diorama, poster or play.

About the Teacher
Sarah Lucas is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Georgetown K-8 School in Savannah, Georgia. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She has served as a grade level chair for prekindergarten and 3rd grade, and currently serves as a mentor teacher for students from Armstrong State University. Her best piece of teaching advice is to gain your students’ respect, set your expectations high and make everything fun!
