Presenter

Kelley W. York was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a proud product of the Atlanta Public School System.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University, Master of Middle Grades Education from Mercer University, and an Educational Specialist degree with a focus in Curriculum and Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia.
 
Kelley has been an educator for 18 years and is passionate about being the necessary change that will enable all students an opportunity to be successful.  She is most proud of her time as a Reading teacher for 9 years and an ELA Instructional Coach for 4 years in Fulton County Schools. Both positions provided her a platform to impact change with colleagues in the educational field. In 2005-2006, she was selected as Fulton County Schools Overall Teacher of the Year, where she served as an Educational Ambassador for the district. Kelley is the founder and CEO of Soaring to Higher Heights Educational Consulting Firm.
 
Kelley currently serves as the ELA/ Literacy Professional Learning Specialist for Metro RESA where she serves the 12 largest districts in the state of Georgia. She has dedicated a lot of time ensuring that students, teachers, and administrators are equipped with appropriate tools and strategies to effectively navigate the areas of Reading, Writing, Literacy Across the Curriculum, and English Language Arts. One of her life’s missions is to leave a strong legacy for future generations through sound, strategic professional development that prepares those charged to help mold children’s lives to reach for the stars.
