Presenters

Tameka Thomas

Tameka Thomas has been an educator for over 16 years with experience at the post secondary, secondary and elementary levels of education. Her passion for reading and writing were sparked when her mother refused to fix the television she believed her children had broken. Books became Tameka's first love and the relationship has been unbreakable since then.  Tameka taught English Language Arts for over ten years before becoming a Literacy Coach and later a K-12 English Language Arts Coordinator.  Tameka enjoys working with teachers in her district and across the state to cultivate a love of reading, ​​and passion for writing, in both teachers and students.

Melanie Lockett

Melanie Lockett is an Academic Coach in the Griffin-Spalding County School System. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and began teaching in the Bibb County School System. After her time in Bibb County, she joined the Monroe County School system and began her Master’s degree at Wesleyan College. She went on to obtain her Education Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Georgia College & State University. Melanie enjoys reading, writing, shopping, and traveling. She desires to fulfill the challenge of her personal mantra by being the change she wishes to see in the world of education.
